Bar Harbor is a vibrant community, and Acadia National Park is its neighbor. We love to share its goodness with everyone who comes through the door (but only if you want, we promise). Want a workout? Hike, bike, kayak. But not everyday? Tour a farm, take a cruise, get a massage, join a bird carving workshop, listen to a reading—so many choices!

We’ll help get you where you want to go with directions to an easy mountain bike loop for the whole family or a gorgeous hike along a waterfall to an ocean view. Try rock climbing with Atlantic Climbing School (where our oldest son is a climbing guide.) We can book you a day sail on the bay, get your tickets to join Diver Ed on board the Starfish Enterprise, or suggest our favorite spots for souvenirs and Maine-made crafts. There’s even a free bus service that lets you park your car at the Inn and travel all over the Island. It's a great way to save some money and see the park.

There are so many different activities, restaurants, day trips, hikes, and events on Mount Desert Island, it can be difficult to choose. We are happy to recommend restaurants or suggest an itinerary. We can also give you insider  details of our local offerings, so you can make just the right choice.

We have put together a few sample itineraries to help you plan your visit. You can make your own reservations, or we can help you with that and might even get you a discount. Give us a call at 800-551-5399 or 207-288-8122.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
